Australia, here we come!

Dear readers,

Here I am again, after more than a month of traveling in Asia, we are now ready for a new adventure: AUSTRALIA!

The 9th of November 5 o’clock in the afternoon, sitting in a taxi on the way to Kuala Lumpur airport, our flight is around 7 so we have some time left to check in and enjoy our last Asian meal, chicken curry with rice!

Kuala Lumpur is a very big airport and has been chosen as BEST AIRPORT in the world, it is one of the biggest hubs from Asia, but easy to find your way around though.

Our flight to Singapore with Singapore Airlines, (we are having a connecting flight to Sydney from there) is already scheduled on the boards so we check in. You can find plenty of self Check-In counters from Star Alliance, which speeds up your Check-In.

The flight to Singapore takes only 55 minutes, once arrived there; somebody from the ground staff is waiting for the passengers who are having a connecting flight.

I thought that our connecting flight to Sydney was in the same terminal but it wasn’t, we needed to go from terminal 2 to terminal 3. I was a bit afraid not catching the flight because we had only 30 minutes left, but everything went so smoothly. I was really surprised, after a short walk to the sky train and a 6 minutes drive, we were already at the gate. Flying with Star Alliance is well organized and it makes traveling so easy!

For the first time in my life, I had the chance to fly with an Airbus A380. Wow! What a big plane! You have an upper deck and a lower deck, and some good First and Business Class compartments. Our flight went smoothly and the service from Singapore Airlines is a dream!

After 8 hours and 50 minutes flying, we arrived at Sydney airport, we could easily go trough customs; however we did have to give away our shoes to clean them (they where full of mod from the jungle) but we got them back, clean!

Our luggage arrived safely, and 10 minutes later we where standing outside, ready for a new adventure!

We will soon read each other again for a new story. New Zealand here we come…..

Greetings from Down Under!

The adventure has started!

Dear colleagues of the travel industry,

As you might know, last year, I won a Star Alliance Round the World ticket at the Star Alliance Travel Agency event and now my journey has finally started!

On the 28th September I turned on the TV, where I heard about the 24 hours strike announced by Belgocontrol. I called Star Alliance, and they advised us to either take the train or to drive to Frankfurt, since it was no use going to Brussels Airport as almost all flights had been cancelled or diverted to other airports. Even though Star Alliance would have paid for the train tickets, we decided to go by car to Frankfurt.

After almost 4 hours of driving we arrived at Frankfurt Main airport; it’s a huge airport so we were a bit scared about finding our way, but luckily all Star Alliance signs were very well positioned everywhere and guided us all the way from the start to the Check-In facilities.

Terminal A is completely filled with orange check-in machines where we checked in ourselves with the already registered luggage, which you can quickly deliver at one of the many luggage drop-offs. Off to the gate and ready to fly!

After 12 hours of flying, we had a quick stop in Bangkok. We left the plane and received a “transit” card, then we were instructed to go to the section D4 by a friendly Star Alliance lady. One small security check later we were on our way again: off to Kuala Lumpur!

Our great adventure has herewith officially started – make sure to soon come back in order to get updated about our next travel experiences!
